CBD Hemp Oil – How it is done

Having a strong anti-inflammatory effect and lacking any narcotic effect whatsoever, Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most important and significant healing substances in the Hemp plant (Cannabis Sativa). CBD hemp oil also works against convulsions, anxiety, insomnia, neuropathic pain and ulcers and more.

The law do not target Cannabidiol (CBD) but has it against another main Cannabinoid, Tetrahydroncannabinol (THC), which is not only psychoactive but also the main chemical constituent in Cannabis.

Both these substances are Cannabinoids, but while THC is psychoactive, CBD is not. While until very recently the entire plant was outlawed because of the psychoactive properties of only one constituent, this is about to change in the light of the fact that CBD can now be sourced from the Hemp plant which, although a member of the Cannabis family, contains negligible amounts of THC. With CBD Hemp oil, the medical properties of Cannabis can now be utilized without fear of prosecution, and be placed within the reach of everyone who needs to be treated for their medical conditions.

CBD from Hemp or Cannabis

Cannabidiol has different healing effects, depending on whether it is plant-derived CBD Hemp Oil with a natural ratio of the other cannabinoids, or so-called purified or synthetic Cannabidiol with slight or zero content of THC.

Cannabidiol is most frequently obtained via extraction from the industrial Hemp feed (a varitey of Cannabis Sativa), which usually contains a CBD content of about 4% and a THC concentration of mostly less than 0.6%.

However, by doing this, the dog is buried because the Cannabinoid contents agriculturally cultured crops is such that it is virtually impossible to achieve a high CBD content and a legal THC content in an extract.

In order to obtain a viable High CBD/ low THC compound when extracted, methods were developed for the purification of the Hemp feed by means of a cleanup procedure, i.e. the removal of THC from the extract made from the industrial mash. Using these methods, CBD Hemp Oils products with a legal THC content can be prepared. However, although such “clean” CBD hemp oil meets the strictest laws, its healing properties are severely truncated. It seems that nature and sound mind just cannot win when human stupidity gets in the way!

CBD Oil Studies

Recent studies by the well-known Czech scientist Lumír Ondřej Hanuš from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem compared the effects of natural and purified Cannabidiol on inflammation and pain. The study found that these two substances, which are identical at first sight, behave very differently.

Although the experiment was carried out on a mouse with an inflamed paw, similar results were observed in human patients.

When the purified CBD was administered, the response was significant. The purified CBD was administered at intervals, increasing the dosage every time it was given.

Response to these further dosages directly corresponded to the increasing dosage, but when a certain level of strength of the dosage was reached, increasing the dosage showed no improvement and had in fact weakened compared to the lower dosages. This effect has been observed in the past and has shown that Cannabidiol is not recommended for the treatment of inflammation – the experiments were done with isolated or synthetic CBD.

In this experiment, a Glock curve was generated, after which the entire study was named ‘Overcoming the Bell-Shaped Dose Response of Cannabidiol by Using Cannabis Extract Enriched in Cannabidiol’.

The scientists, however, obtained a completely different result when they used a plant extract Cbd Hemp Oil from the Israeli cultivar Avidekel containing CBD 18%  and  THC <1% for the treatment of inflammation. Administration of this extract triggered an increasing response which was directly proportional to the increased dosage, during the entire length of the experiment, which was 24 hours.

This experiment has shown that this plant extract with the entire Cannabinoid spectrum, in contrast to the purified CBD, is suitable for the clinical treatment of inflammation.cbd-side-effect

CBD compared to common Drugs

cbd-vs-drugsWhen compared to aspirin and tramadol, which are commonly used drugs for inflammation and pain, Cannabidiol had a much stronger effect on the inflammation, while the effect on pain was lower.

The researchers thus proved that the extract of the Hemp plant (Cannabis Sativa) contains substances which have an influence on the behavior of the Cannabidiol and improve its effect.

It has been a well-known fact that the substances contained in Hemp form a synergy and mutually reinforce and modulate the effect of the plant on the body. This synergistic effect is lost in the isolated state of CBD Hemp Oil.

CBD Experience

In my practice, I have by means of a chance occurrence discovered the difference between purified Cannabidiol and the plant extract in the treatment of pediatric epilepsy. This was due to the inadvertent change of commercial CBD Hemp Oil to my oil made from an extract containing 50% CBD + 5% THC.

Although both preparations had an identical CBD (5%) content, the commercial CBD oil with no THC content was weaker than mine that contained 5% CBD and 0.5% THC. It would be natural to assume that similar differences would also occur with other medicinal effects of Cannabidiol.

CBD products that were prepared without altering the composition have no psychotropic effects at a low THC concentration of approximately 1 percent. They are therefore safe for small children – it has been proven that Cannabidiol acts against the psychoactive effect of THC and neutralizes it.

One cannot help but smile when some of our manufacturers of CBD preparations boast that their Cannabidiol has been completely purified from the evil THC, because that could only mean that they actually admit that their products are not as effective as CBD Oil with a slight THC content.

CBD Oil Extraction – Safe and effective ways to produce CBD-rich Hemp oil.

CBD OIl extraction methodsThere are various ways of extracting CBD-rich cannabis oil. To begin with, one has to use CBD-rich Cannabis plants.

Certain methods are safer than others, and also more effective. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages.

For example: when you use solvents such as butane and hexane, which are neuro-toxic substances. Possible residues of these neuro-toxins that may remain in the oil could negatively affect ones chances of healing, and in general neuro-toxins are not desirable in whichever ever small amounts because of possible organ damage that may take place in spite of the fact that the CBD Oil itself is meant to heal.

To extract the oil via CO2 extraction involves utilizing highly compressed carbon dioxide and extremely low temperatures. This method isolates and retains the purity of the CBD medicinal oil, but entails having costly apparatus and a precipitous course to eventual success. However, when done correctly the end product is safe, effective chlorophyll free.

Using Ethanol results in high quality Cannabis oil that can be used for vape pens. Take care with this method, though. Natural waxes, which may have health benefits, are destroyed in the process.

Olive oil, whether extra virgin or not, can also be utilized for the extraction of Cannabis Oil. But note, because it is an Oil Maceration it is also by far not as effective to release the Cannabinoids from the Plant material. Being both safe an inexpensive, using this method is recommended by Dr Arno Hazekamp, Director of Phytochemical Research at Bedrocan BV. Dr Hazekamp supplies medical cannabis for the Dutch Health Ministry: He is reported as having said: “You won’t blow yourself up making cannabis-infused olive oil.

Remember, however, that Olive Oil in general is perishable.  Cannabis-infused Olive oil should therefore be stored in a cool, dark place.
