In this Article, we are going to be talking about a possible side effect of using CBD and CBD products and unpacking that topic a little bit. CBD is known for having very few side effects, if any very few negative side effects, especially compared to other treatment options for the conditions people are using CBD for. When there is something about some side effect of CBD it always does catch our attention to look deeper into it to see what it’s all about and what’s causing it.
We read a review about a possible side effect of CBD and in that one they talked about how one of the most common side effects that people experienced in some of these studies with CBD was an upset stomach or diarrhea. We’ve heard of this from some people as well and we always kind of had a hunch that it might not be from the CBD itself. It could be, but it could also be from the other components of the CBD product.
A side effect of CBD or another ingredient?
In the article that drew our attention to these reviews and side effects, it was a doctor that was talking about how it’s not necessarily the CBD but it’s some of the other ingredients in a CBD product. Remember, any CBD product, even just like a CBD tincture, if you’re not using just pure CBD isolate powder, there’s other ingredients in there.
Most commonly they use a carrier oil which gets the CBD to you. The carrier oil is what’s the CBD is suspended in. Usually it’s going to be olive oil and the most common one right now is MCT and coconut oil. Hemp seed oil it’s used a lot as well as a few other kinds of oil. So some plant based oil usually is used as the carrier. carrier.
The carrier oil in which the CBD is dissolved
We think that’s what you have to watch out for, not just for maybe an upset stomach but other areas in your life where you’re using CBD, you always want to make sure that you look at the other ingredients in there as well.
Do we hundred percent know that the upset stomach that the people were experiencing is from the carrier oil? No, we don’t. But we think it’s a good point to look into if you have experienced an upset stomach or diarrhea effect from using CBD. You want to eliminate the possibility that it’s the carrier oil and not the CBD.
Switch to another product with a different carrier oil
So you would want to then switch to a different carrier oil product or just a different product altogether that doesn’t contain the same ingredients as the one that you were using before.
Luckily CBD for most people, we’d say 80 to 90 percent of people
But there’s luckily plenty of different options on the market today to use something different. Another thing is if you’re using high doses you might be ingesting a lot of that oil more so than you normally would be and you might want to switch to a different
If you want to switch to perhaps just using a CBD isolate and putting it into something like a drink, people seem to be having success with it in just mixing it into things. But remember, CBD Isolate
Drug interaction of CBD with other medications
The other thing of course with CBD and side effects is the drug interactions. That is continually something that is being looked into and a problem that people are trying to solve because they want to make sure they can take the CBD with the other medications that they’re taking. That is something you have to be careful with.
We always recommend people to speak with their doctor or pharmacist first before trying CBD if they are using other medications. Since it’s absolutely impossible to know what everybody is taking and everybody has their own way of processing those drugs. So its pretty individual on that although there are trends it’s still good to talk to your doctor before using that.
Have you been getting an upset stomach from CBD?
Have you been getting an upset stomach from CBD? If so, did switching to a different product help? We’d love to hear your thoughts on that. The thing to keep in mind is that diarrhea and upset stomach it has come up as a side effect for CBD. We’ve never heard of it being too severe. But this article highlights the possibility that it’s not the CBD, which has actually shown some benefits for stomach issues but it could be the carrier oil that the CBD is suspended in.
