This Article is about why researchers study CBD for its anxiolytics effects. What does anxiolytics mean? It means anti-anxiety. It’s a fancy word that’s hard to pronounce. It’s probably better to just say anti-anxiety. The reason why researchers study CBD for its anti-anxiety effects is interesting.
THC can lead to anxiety – CBD counteracts this effect
They started to notice that CBD would mitigate the effects of THC. What do we mean by that? THC can make people kind of anxious. When they smoke Marijuana with a lot of THC and if they were anxious before or before they used a marijuana product, it would make them more anxious.
It does not always have to be that way, but if they were a bit worried and had something in their head and then smoked it, it could make things worse. For some people it makes them anxious all the time.
And that’s why CBD can be ideal on its own. Like a CBD hemp oil which is just mostly CBD and other cannabinoids and very little THC. That can be ideal for people who get anxious from THC.

The effect of CBD on THC started the studies
But back to the point. CBD effects the cannabinoid receptors in such a way that it dampens the effect of THC. And we’ll have other articles about that and the cannabinoid receptors as part of the endocannabinoid system.
But the main thing we wanted you to know with this short article is, just simply why researchers started studying CBD as an anxiolytic drug.
It’s because they noticed that it made the THC high much less intense. So they logically thought: Well, if it does that, then maybe on its own or in high doses on its own it can be a great all-natural anti-anxiety supplement without negative side effects.
And that’s what we want. We always want to find something that can help with anxiety but not also carrying negative side effects.
